Betty with Jacket Pieces

Betty once told me that, the better the job you do on your cutting out, the easier the sewing will be. Here we can see her jacket in its early stages, and i feel certain that the finished product will reflect such a wise axiom.

Betty's completed jacket is so charming, much like Betty! This jacket is from "A favorite Things" pattern called
The Frayed Jacket Pattern. It is made from fat quarters, is reversible and can have frayed edges, or bound like it is shown here. By the way beautiful fit!

  1. This Friday Betty returned to her quilted jacket. She attached her patch pocket and added a few tucks at the bottom to create some dimension. She attached the lining which is an adorable watermelon check and has decided to bind all the edges with a bias binding. She is making wonderful progress, and it is as unique as she is. The added bonus of course is the perfect fit, which makes it comfortable to wear, and is something you just cannot find in ready to wear.

  2. Betty applied all of her bias binding in class on Friday and was looking forward to sitting down in front of a good movie while doing her handwork. Because her jacket is reversible she is plotting out some further embellishments, which will require hand applique work - more relaxing time in front of a good movie. Betty likes to keep her house cool so she is planning on using this as a house coat and has planned some coordintaing "nighties" Sounds like a sewing slumber party may be on our horizen.
