Chatty Kathy

As most of you know Kathy works as a bus driver for the Rhinelander school district. She made this barn coat from a chenille which she interlined with flannel and then lined. She is very pleased at how warm it keeps her, and I am pleased she has something so stylish to keep her warm. My apologies for the photo quality on Kathys triumph! A hand tailored wool blazer and bias cut skirt. This jacket was Kathys first tailoring project and she did a great job! It was a lot of work but well worth the effort. Rumor has it that she may do another. We all look forward to seeing your next endeavor.

A great start to the New Year

What a wonderful start for the New Year. Our 1st friday class of the year was great fun and filled with familiar faces, returning faces and one new face. Welcome Joel! We are all so pleased to have another male in class, and looking forward to getting to know you. I love the diversity of projects - A returning student Liz is working on a bright and colorful quilt, just the thing for this colorless time of year in the Northwoods; Michelle is tackling another Crazy quilted tote on her new Baby Lock machine, a great project for experimenting with her new stitch choices; Betty is creating some pillows from recycled sweaters, and a patched vest from a pack of charm squares; Elizabeth a cozy flannel robe; Joanne fleece tops to keep her warm; Paula is wrapping up a wool full length coat, a wrap knit blouse, and a softly pleated skirt; Pam some chenille slippers for her daughter; George his first button down shirt from a cotton stripe; and Joel a camp stool cover! Whew!

My thanks as to Nicolet college for providing us with such a nice sewing environment, and to Debbie Jones for coordinating all of the additional classes. We currently only have room for 1 more student in the Friday line up so make sure you sign up early to reserve your sewing space. We unfortunately were shy 1 person for the fisrt Saturday class of the new year. But the 24th is looking good, so I will look forward to seeing my usual Saturday group then.

New features - I have added a book list of some of my favorite sewing reference books.

Under links - I added Sew True a notion supply house in NY. This is where I get my coat linings, shoulder pads, tailoring supplys and more.
