A lot of Lurking & A touch of sewing

This title is not to suggest that in my lengthy posting absence that I have not been sewing.
 Heaven Forbid!
Rather it is to say that I have been exploring lurking.  You know reading blogs appreciating and even using the information while rarely leaving a comment trail.

Quite honestly it feels a bit like walking into someones home while they are out, raiding their fridge and sneaking out with out a "by your leave".

But enough about lurking (questions to follow) and on to sewing....Hooray!

This is a small sampling of what I have been up to of late, more to follow in the days ahead possibly.

"Your assignment should you choose to accept it"
Create a bra for an elderly client with sloping shoulders a 32" rib cage and a E cup.
I used the Pin-Up Girls Classic Bra Pattern with no alterations(seriously, just follow the directions) and achieved a perfect fit and the only comfortable bra she has ever had!!

 and from the back.
I have have made 3 of these in total and still need to make another in black
&
1 in red and white gingham
( that is supposed to be a teaser of sorts)

For the same client a quilted vest from Moda charm packs.  She used to do more sewing herself, but in her semi-retirement she has decided its more fun to be the designer.
She provides me with the idea, the fabrics, and some of the notions( buttons in this case) but leaves me lots of room to add my own touches.

What a great client!!

This close up shows some of my touches.
After sewing the charm squares together. I hand quilted them to a layer of cotton flannel using different colors of embroidery floss.
The breast pocket was an additional touch to help achieve two objectives.
1- Create a space to show off her hankie collection.
2- Balance out the bust by creating a focal point above it and drawing the eye back towards her lovely face.

Now back to the questions, because I really want to know:)
Do you like to lurk?
Do you prefer it?
Do you ever feel guilty for it?
Do you find commenting bothersome, required, pointless,  or challenging?

  1. I've noticed your absence (and you've been missed), so it's nice to hear from you :)

I actually like to comment (sometimes, anyway), but I definitely read/lurk many more blogs than I comment on! And I only comment when I'm moved to do so, for one reason or another.

I consider guilt one of the "useless" emotions - not that I never feel it, but if I do, I tend to analyze where it's coming from - you know, the psychological/self-improvement/growth/psycho-babble thing. Sometimes it works, sometimes not so much lol!

Lovely to know that you're still around :)

    1. It's nice to know I have been missed. Always nice to hear from you as well:) I have been experimenting with sewing/knitting more and posting less. Trying to not feel pressured into posting...I have enough pressure, don't want this to add to it. Right?

  2. Great to have you back in the blogging world! That is one lucky client to have you whip up those bra's and vest for her.

I like to comment, and babble on....on the sites that grab my attention. But equally I lurk, and adore so many blogs that my poor little fingers would wear out if I typed a comment every time...J

    1. I used to try to always leave a comment, so that bloggers would know I had stopped by. More and more though I just comment when the info has been very helpful, or inspirational.

  3. I love comments! It means someone cared enough to spend a minute and let me know what I write was read. I leave comments whenever I can (if I have something to say and if blog settings allow me to comment).

  4. Hi Lynne,
I will leave a comment if I can. I know that they are appreciated.
I don't feel guilty for lurking. People spend a lot of time posting information; if it isn't read I would be disappointed. We crafters love to share ideas and blogging is a great way to do it.
It is great too have you back Lynne.

  5. If someone posts something that I enjoy, I'll comment on their blog because they've made me happy too.
Lynne, now you've got me thinking about making a bra for Mum.

    1. I find I respond to this as well. It helps to establish a real dialog and hopefully/eventually a new friend:)

Bra making is very rewarding for all parties concerned. I am determined to make myself some this year as well.

  6. Thank you Lynne for using my Pin-up Girls pattern! That Classic Bra certainly gets around the world. I have seen it on bra sew-alongs and in classes everywhere I look. It is gratifying for me to hear that the pattern is a good one.
